HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 196

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend the law firm of Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer, LLC upon the occasion of
its one hundredth anniversary.
WHEREAS, the law firm of Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer, LLC was established
in 1914 as the private practice of Mr. Cuthbert S. Baldwin and Mr. Edward Haspel in the
great city of New Orleans, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, in 2007, the law firm of Baldwin Haspel merged with the venerable law
firm of Burke & Mayer to form Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer, LLC; and
WHEREAS, in 2014, Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer, LLC is celebrating one
hundred years of continuous legal service; and
WHEREAS, Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer, LLC today continues to provide top
quality legal services in the areas of taxation, mergers, and acquisitions, estate planning and
succession, commercial litigation, insurance, and maritime law; and
WHEREAS, the attorneys of Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer, LLC are regularly
listed, ranked, and recognized as top attorneys in their practice areas; and
WHEREAS, for one hundred years now, Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer, LLC
attorneys have been committed to New Orleans and other Louisiana communities, serving
on numerous boards, volunteering for numerous charity events, and donating legal services
and funds to worthy causes; and
WHEREAS, over the last one hundred years, Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer, LLC
attorneys have served both the civic and legal community in the capacity of public officials,
as well as appointed and elected judges on both the federal and state benches; and ENROLLEDHCR NO. 196

WHEREAS, in 1990, Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer, LLC was a founding member
of MERITAS, a global alliance of one hundred and seventy-eight law firms located in more
than eighty countries, which strives to provide quality, local counsel around the globe to its
members; and
WHEREAS, supported by the integrity of its founders and the numerous
accomplishments of the Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer, LLC family, the firm is primed to
extend its tradition, innovation, and success into a future of continued prominence in New
Orleans.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend the achievements of Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer, LLC on its one hundredth
anniversary and does hereby salute the profound legacy the attorneys of Baldwin Haspel
Burke & Mayer, LLC have provided to the civic and legal community of Louisiana and the
nation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer, LLC.
