HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 218
BY REPRESENTATIVE KLECKLEY AND SENATORS JOHNS AND MORRI SH
COMMENDATIONS:  Commends the 2014 Barbe High School baseball team upon
winning their seventh Class 5A state championship
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend the Barbe High School Buccaneers baseball team upon winning the Class 5A2
state championship title and to congratulate the Buccaneers on an outstanding 20143
season.4
WHEREAS, on Saturday, May 17, 2014, the Barbe Buccaneers baseball team won5
its seventh Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 5A Baseball Championship6
by notching its twenty-seven th consecutive 2014 win by beating Live Oak High School in7
the championship game by a score of 7 to 1; and8
WHEREAS, the 2014 Bucs baseball team, ranked number one in the nation by the9
MaxPreps national poll, set a school record for the most wins in a season with a season total10
39 wins and 2 losses for a winning percentage of .951; and11
WHEREAS, there were several stand-outs in the championship game including12
fifteen-year-old freshman Adam Goree at the mound who finished the game with no earned13
runs, three hits, and nine strikeouts; and14
WHEREAS, in addition to Goree's outstanding contributions, senior left fielder Beau15
Jordan was named the games' Most Outstanding Player after finishing 2-for-4 including a16
home run and a straight steal of home plate in the bottom of the first inning; and Jordan's17
twin brother, senior Bryce Jordan, winner of the Most Outstanding Player in the 201218
championship game, who made a sliding catch to end the 2014 game; and19
WHEREAS, also adding to the win were junior Shane Selman who homered over the20
left-field fence for the winning run, seniors Gunner Leger and Braedon Barrett who drove21 HLS 14RS-6119	ORIGINAL

in runs, and sophomore Garret Williams who supplied the final run when he scored on a1
passed ball in the bottom of the sixth inning; and2
WHEREAS, as with all teams, it is all about the team effort and the games were not3
won by just a few mentioned but by the team, including seniors Nicholas Abshire, Erin4
Baldwin, Braedon Barrett, Kennon Fontenot, Jonathan Hughes, Beau Jordan, Bryce Jordan,5
Gunner Leger, Grant Loupe; juniors Marshall Alexander, Addison Armand, Trevor6
Beaubouef, Braden Bethea, Brent Buller, Braden Comeaux, Hunter Feduccia, Shane Selman,7
Garrison Worthington; sophomores Tyler Bauinco, Elliott Butler, Jaxson Caldwell, Garret8
Williams; and freshmen Kirkland Banks, Tyler Booth, Nate Briscoe, Bonner Caton, Cavin9
Courville, Slate Fuller, Adam Goree, Alex Goree, Hunter Hebert, Tanner Littleton, Ty10
Manuel, Ty Thibodeaux; and11
WHEREAS, no team is likely to achieve the accomplishments experienced by the12
2014 Barbe Buccaneers baseball team without the teaching and encouragement of the13
coaches, including Head Coach Glenn Cecchini, along with assistants Jarred Barrett, David14
Blank, Grant Castillo, and Bob Corley, and team manager Ian Everage.15
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby16
commend the Barbe High School Buccaneers baseball team upon winning the Class 5A state17
championship title and to congratulate the Buccaneers on an outstanding 2014 season.18
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to Coach19
Glenn Cecchini and the 2014 Barbe baseball team.20
