HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 37
BY REPRESENTATIVE STUART BISHOP
COASTAL RES/WETLANDS:  Commends Apache Corporation for its contributions to
restoration and reforestation of the coastal wetlands
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend Apache Corporation for its responsible and sustainable environmental2
stewardship and dedication to protecting the coastal wetlands of Louisiana through3
its commitment to coastal restoration and reforestation through the planting of trees4
in the coastal areas of Louisiana and to enhancing the quality of life in Louisiana.5
WHEREAS, Apache Corporation is an independent oil and gas exploration and6
production company with global and domestic operations including operations located in7
South Louisiana; and8
WHEREAS, Apache owns over three hundred thirty thousand mineral fee acres (two9
hundred seventy thousand surface acres) in South Louisiana and participates in and oversees10
numerous major wetland protection and restoration projects each year out of its Houma11
office, including the St. Louis Canal Freshwater Introduction Project, North Lake Boudreaux12
Shoreline Protection and Marsh Creation Project, and restoring the Lake DeCade Shoreline;13
and14
WHEREAS, Apache Corporation has established its Tree Grant Program, which15
makes trees for planting in the coastal areas available to nonprofit and governmental entities16
each year; and17
WHEREAS, Apache Corporation has donated nearly three million seven hundred18
thousand trees in seventeen states since the Tree Grant Program began in 2005, with more19
than one million seven hundred thousand of those being donated in Louisiana; and20 HLS 14RS-941	ORIGINAL

WHEREAS, in addition, during the 2013-2014 planting season, Apache Corporation1
donated one hundred seventy-five thousand trees to the Black Bear Conservation Coalition;2
four thousand trees to the Hike for KaTREEna in New Orleans; three thousand trees to the3
Boys Scouts of America Evangeline Area Council to be planted at the Atchafalaya Welcome4
Center; one thousand trees to St. Bernard Parish; one thousand native trees to the Terrebonne5
Parish Tree Board; one hundred seventy-five trees to the city of Kenner; one hundred fifty6
trees to Abita Springs Friends of the Park; one hundred trees to Keep Hammond Beautiful;7
one hundred trees to Lafayette Consolidated Government; and fifty trees to St. Mary Parish8
Soil and Water Conservation District.9
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby10
recognize, commend, and congratulate Apache Corporation for its responsible and11
sustainable environmental stewardship and dedication to protecting the coastal wetlands of12
Louisiana through its wetland restoration work and its commitment to reforestation through13
the planting of trees in the coastal areas of Louisiana and to enhancing the quality of life in14
Louisiana.15
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby16
commend Apache Corporation for excellence in corporate citizenship.17
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be forwarded18
to the Chief Executive Officer of Apache Corporation and to the Vice President of19
governmental affairs for Apache Corporation.20
