HLS 14RS-1848 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2014 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 39 BY REPRESENTATIVES MILLER, BERTHELOT, GAINES, LAMBERT, PRICE, SCHEXNAYDER, AND WILLMOTT AND SENATORS GARY SMITH, AMEDEE, AND BROWN COMMENDATIONS: Commends the River Region Caucus and its member parishes for their cooperative efforts toward improving the quality of life in the river region A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1 To commend the River Region Caucus and its member parishes for their cooperative efforts2 toward improving the quality of life in the river region.3 WHEREAS, formed in 1998, the River Region Caucus (RRC) is comprised of the4 governing bodies of Ascension, St. Charles, St. James, and St. John the Baptist parishes; and5 WHEREAS, the mission of the RRC is to seek regional cooperation among the four6 participating parishes on various issues and to work together as an alliance to solve common7 problems; and8 WHEREAS, because the region shares similar challenges and values and because the9 parishes are a part of the same economic region, the caucus has several common collective10 goals, including increasing awareness of the region's resources for state policy and11 decisionmakers on issues related to levee protection, infrastructure improvements,12 transportation and safety, traffic management, community development, environmental13 planning, economic development, coastal erosion, and port facility improvements; and14 WHEREAS, the members of the RRC realize there is value in working cooperatively15 to maximize the region's image, services, and communities, improving the quality of life for16 citizens through better communication, identifying and planning opportunities to promote17 and advance the culture and interests of the river region, and educating the public and18 statewide decisionmakers about the region; and19 HLS 14RS-1848 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 39 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, the River Region Caucus merits a special measure of commendation for1 its significant contributions toward meeting the needs of the citizens of Ascension,2 St. Charles, St. James, and St. John the Baptist parishes and for the pride and honor the RRC3 brings to the river region and to the state of Louisiana.4 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby5 commend the River Region Caucus and its member parishes for their continuing efforts6 toward improving the quality of life in the river region.7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted8 to the president of each parish in the River Region Caucus.9 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
