[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] Norton HCR No. 46 Present rule provides that subject to the availability of state funds for such purpose, local education agencies (LEA) shall provide a minimum of 45 minutes daily planning time, or its weekly equivalent, and a minimum of 30 minutes for lunch each day which shall be duty-free for every teacher actively engaged in the instruction and supervision of students in the public schools. Provides that implementation of planning time and lunch periods for teachers shall not result in a lengthened school day. Proposed rule amends present rule to add that planning includes but is not limited to preparation for instruction, evaluation of student work, and completion of administrative functions related to instruction. Further adds that time spent by attending administrative meetings or training at which attendance is required by school administrators shall not be counted toward the daily minimum of planning time to which teachers are entitled.
