GERMAIN, STOKES, TALBOT, THIBAUT, THIERRY, THOMPSON, WHITNEY, ALFRED WILLIAMS, PATRICK WILLIAMS, WILLMOTT, AND WOODRUFF A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON To commend the members of the United States Armed Forces for their service and to recognize May 2014, as Military Appreciation Month. WHEREAS, the vigilance of the members of the armed forces has been instrumental to the preservation of the freedom, security, and prosperity enjoyed by the people of the United States; and WHEREAS, the armed forces are spread around the world in more than one hundred fifty countries, protecting American lives and interests, and being forever vigilant that its citizens are safe as they travel throughout the country and the world; and WHEREAS, the success of the armed forces depends on the dedicated service of its members, their families, and the civilian employees of the Department of Defense; and WHEREAS, service in the armed forces entails special hazards and demands extraordinary sacrifices from service members and their families, which enhances the effectiveness and capabilities of the armed forces; and ENROLLEDHCR NO. 93 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, the observance of events recognizing the many contributions of the armed forces is a tangible and highly effective way of sustaining morale, improving quality of life for service members and their families, and communicating to our service members our vast appreciation for their dedicated and selfless service; and WHEREAS, the month of May, and in particular Memorial Day being observed this year on May twenty-sixth, is traditionally recognized as a time of honor and recognition of this nation's armed forces who have given their lives protecting this country's interests. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend all members of the United States Armed Forces and recognize that their services and sacrifices are vital to the future of the United States, and this legislature does, in honor of these brave Americans, hereby proclaim the month of May 2014, as Military Appreciation Month in the Louisiana Legislature.
