COMMENDATIONS: Commends the organizers and volunteers of the 2014 Plaquemines
Parish Heritage and Seafood Festival
A RESOLUTION1
To commend the organizers and volunteers of the 2014 Plaquemines Parish Heritage and2
Seafood Festival.3
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the organizers and volunteers of the4
Plaquemines Parish Heritage and Seafood Festival, held annually in May in Belle Chasse,5
Louisiana; and6
WHEREAS, the Plaquemines Parish Heritage and Seafood Festival celebrates the7
rich heritage of the people of Plaquemines Parish; and8
WHEREAS, the inaugural Plaquemines Parish Heritage and Seafood Festival was9
held on Memorial Day weekend in 2005 and has evolved into a beloved tradition for the10
people of Plaquemines Parish and beyond; and11
WHEREAS, the Plaquemines Parish Heritage and Seafood Festival is a family-12
friendly event featuring the parish's signature seafood and other local food specialties, live13
music from popular local bands, traditional Cajun music, crafts from local artisans, carnival14
rides, tank fishing, sandbagging contests, helicopter rides, the Seafood Queen pageant, and15
other memorable activities; and16
WHEREAS, Nadia Cognevich, a young woman of many gifts and talents, reigns as17
the current Seafood Queen with great distinction and dedication; and18
WHEREAS, the festival's organizers and volunteers have persevered through several19
hurricanes as well as the 2010 oil spill, earning the respect, admiration, and enduring20

WHEREAS, the organizers and volunteers of the 2014 Plaquemines Parish Heritage1
and Seafood Festival merit a sincere and heartfelt measure of commendation for the2
tremendous pride and honor that this wonderful annual event brings to the citizens of3
Louisiana.4
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the5
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the organizers and volunteers of the 20146
Plaquemines Parish Heritage and Seafood Festival and does hereby recognize this7
extraordinary festival as an integral part of the culture and history of Plaquemines Parish and8
the state of Louisiana.9
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted10
to Sharon Hinkley.11
