HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 11
BY REPRESENTATIVE THIERRY
A RESOLUTION
To commend Cheryl Milburn upon her recent appointment to the post of registrar of voters
of St. Landry Parish.
WHEREAS, having worked in the office of the St. Landry Parish registrar of voters
since her graduation from Southern University with a bachelor of science degree in
sociology thirty-seven years ago, Cheryl Milburn was promoted to deputy registrar, a post
she has held for the past thirty years; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Milburn is regarded highly by her colleagues and parish officials
and is well known in and respected by the St. Landry Parish community; and
WHEREAS, the choice of Cheryl Milburn for special appointment to the important
post of registrar of voters, made unanimously by the St. Landry Parish Council, was a
prudent one that will serve the parish and its citizens well; and
WHEREAS, the duties of the registrar of voters include registering voters for all
elections, maintaining voter records, enforcing all state laws with regard to voters, and
conducting absentee and early voting in the parish, and Ms. Milburn acknowledges the vital
importance of teamwork in accomplishing these tasks; and
WHEREAS, being cognizant of the sacrosanct nature of voting which she has been
entrusted to protect, Ms. Milburn will be presented with the opportunity to test her mettle
at the helm of the office in October 2014, when there will be a rare election in which judicial
and municipal elections coincide and approximately one hundred local offices will be
decided.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Cheryl Milburn for attaining the office of
St. Landry Parish registrar of voters. ENROLLEDHR NO. 11

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Ms. Cheryl Milburn, registrar of voters for St. Landry Parish.
