COMMENDATIONS: Commends the organizers and participants of the asthma awareness
event Walk for "Fat" Health Walk and Balloon Release
A RESOLUTION1
To commend the organizers and participants of the Walk for "Fat" Health Walk and Balloon2
Release for their efforts to raise community awareness about asthma.3
WHEREAS, Marvin and Dianne Stallings lost their eighteen-year-old son, Marvin4
J. "Fat" Stallings, Jr., to respiratory failure in 2013, and his sudden, tragic death prompted5
Dianne Stallings to search for ways to prevent other families from suffering the same kind6
of loss; and7
WHEREAS, Ms. Stallings' efforts to raise community awareness on the devastating8
effects of asthma led to the establishment of The TUFF Project, a group designed to9
empower the community and provide information about asthma; and10
WHEREAS, the Walk for "Fat" Health Walk and Balloon Release will be held on11
May 10, 2014, and will include healthcare professionals who will share their knowledge12
about the signs and symptoms, treatment options, and proper medications for asthma, and13
it is appropriate to commend the organizers of and participants in the walk.14
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the15
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Dianne B. Stallings and The TUFF Project16
for their efforts to raise awareness about the dangers of asthma and does hereby express best17
wishes for a successful Walk for "Fat" Health Walk and Balloon Release.18
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted19
