HLS 14RS-4507 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2014 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 121 BY REPRESENTATIVE JAMES CONDOLENCES: Expresses condolences upon the death of Johnnie Anderson Jones of Baton Rouge A RESOLUTION1 To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Johnnie2 Anderson Jones, Jr., of Baton Rouge.3 WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sadness that the Louisiana House of4 Representatives has learned of the death of Johnnie Anderson Jones, Jr., of Baton Rouge, on5 Sunday, May 4, 2014, in York, Pennsylvania, at the age of sixty-four; and6 WHEREAS, Mr. Jones graduated from Baton Rouge High School, Louisiana State7 University, and Southern University Law School; he was also a veteran of the United States8 Army and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; and9 WHEREAS, Mr. Jones was a highly respected and admired attorney throughout10 Louisiana; he practiced law for over twenty-five years in the Baton Rouge area and was a11 member of the Louisiana Bar Association and the Baton Rouge Bar Association; and12 WHEREAS, Mr. Jones is survived by his loving and devoted wife of forty-two years,13 Mary Louise Spand Jones; his parents Johnnie A. Jones and Sebell Elizabeth Chase Jones;14 one daughter, Stefanie D. Jones; one son, Kyle S. Jones; one daughter-in-law, Thaisa Gee15 Jones; one brother, Adair D. Jones; two sisters-in-law, Zavia Mae Piper-Jones and Gladys16 Jones Campbell; and a host of many loving friends and extended family; and17 WHEREAS, Mr. Jones was supportive of his friends and family in all of their18 personal and professional pursuits, and he will always be remembered for his encouraging19 and uplifting words and spirit; and20 HLS 14RS-4507 ORIGINAL HR NO. 121 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, with the death of Johnnie Jones, Louisiana has lost one of her finest1 sons and he leaves behind a rich legacy of hard work, professionalism, integrity, and2 intellect; and3 WHEREAS, the death of Johnnie Jones has left an unspeakable emptiness in the4 hearts of his family members and friends who are left to cherish his precious memories; and5 WHEREAS, Johnnie Jones's life was a gift to his community, and his legacy will6 continue to bring honor and pride to his family, his friends, and the state of Louisiana.7 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the8 Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express deepest sympathies to the members of the9 family of Johnnie Anderson Jones, Jr., does hereby record for posterity his many10 accomplishments and achievements, does hereby extend the hope that Mr. Jones's family11 will be granted the strength they need to cope with his death, and does hereby express the12 deep regret of the entire state upon the loss of this extraordinary man.13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted14 to the family of Johnnie Anderson Jones, Jr.15 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
