SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Recognizes May 5-9, 2014, as Louisiana Teacher
Appreciation Week
A RESOLUTION1
To recognize May 5-9, 2014, as Louisiana Teacher Appreciation Week.2
WHEREAS, Louisiana teachers make Louisiana public schools great; and 3
WHEREAS, Louisiana teachers work to expand students' minds, opening a gateway4
to ideas, knowledge, and dreams; and5
WHEREAS, Louisiana teachers spend countless hours outside of work preparing6
lessons, evaluating progress, counseling, coaching, and caring for students; and7
WHEREAS, Louisiana teachers fill many roles, as listeners, role models, motivators,8
and mentors; and9
WHEREAS, teachers across America keep democracy alive by laying the foundation10
for good citizenship; and11
WHEREAS, our country's future depends upon the quality education teachers12
provide to all students; and13
WHEREAS, teachers continue to influence us long after our school days. 14
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the15
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize May 5-9, 2014, as Louisiana Teacher16
Appreciation Week.17
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature18
of Louisiana does hereby commend the state's teachers and education support professionals19
for their dedication to their work and their impact on the lives of Louisiana's children.20 HR NO. 122

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted1
to the president of the Louisiana Association of Educators.2
