HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 154
BY REPRESENTATIVES JEFFERSON AND SHADOIN
A RESOLUTION
To commend the Simsboro High School boys' track and field team for winning the 2014
Class B state championship.
WHEREAS, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class B and C Track
and Field Championships were held on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at the LSU Bernie Moore
Track Stadium; and
WHEREAS, the Simsboro High School boys' track and field team earned a top team
score of 64.5; and
WHEREAS, Rontavious Abney was named the state meet MVP and won first place
in both the 110m and 300m hurdles, second place in the 160m relay, and fourth place in the
800m relay; and
WHEREAS, Jeromie Ashley placed fourth in the 400m and the 800m relay, Colton
Cochran placed second in the 1600m relay and the 3200m relay, Dequalone James placed
second in the 1600m relay and fourth in both the 400m and 800m relays, Dallas Leith placed
eighth in the 3200m relay, Cardaye Modest placed third in the 800m relay and second in the
1600m relay, Xavier Ogunyemi placed second in the 1600m relay and fourth in the 400m
and 800m relays, Matthew Roberson placed eighth in pole vault, and Brandon Walker placed
fourth in shot put and ninth in discus; Zach Beard and Brendan Jackson served as relay
alternates; and
WHEREAS, all members of the team performed at the highest level of excellence
throughout the entire season, and each of them deserves recognition for his vital contribution
to the winning effort; and 
WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of this team could not have been
achieved without the guidance and skills of the coaching staff and all of the other individuals
who have contributed to the success of the school's track and field program; and ENROLLEDHR NO. 154

WHEREAS, the outstanding feats of the team members and coaches of the Simsboro
High School boys' track and field team merit a sincere measure of commendation for the
pride and honor they have brought to their school and families, the state of Louisiana, and
the Simsboro community.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Simsboro High School boys' track and
field team for winning the 2014 Class B state championship.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature
of Louisiana does hereby congratulate the coaching staff and members of the Simsboro High
School boy's track and field team, Chris Campbell, Rontavious Abney, Jeromie Ashley, Zach
Beard, Colton Cochran, Brendan Jackson, Dequalone James, Dallas Leith, Cardaye Modest,
Xavier Ogunyemi, Matthew Roberson, and Brandon Walker for their outstanding
performance this year.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Simsboro High School boys' track and field team coach, Chris Campbell.
