SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH:  Recognizes June 2014 as Immigrant Heritage Month in
Louisiana
A RESOLUTION1
To recognize June 2014 as Immigrant Heritage Month in Louisiana.2
WHEREAS, generations of immigrants from every corner of the globe have helped3
cultivate our country's economy and have contributed to the exceptional character of the4
United States; and5
WHEREAS, immigrants have played an integral role in contributing to Louisiana's6
rich and unique cultural history and have likewise fundamentally enriched the extraordinary7
strength of our great state; and8
WHEREAS, immigrants continue to grow businesses, innovate, create jobs, and9
make significant positive impacts in Louisiana's economy in both private sector industries10
spanning from science, technology, engineering, agriculture, and the arts, as well as wide-11
ranging public sector roles, including esteemed service in all branches of our military; and12
WHEREAS, recognizing these vast contributions, the role of immigrants in building13
and enriching our state and nation has been far reaching and possesses untold economic and14
cultural value.15
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the16
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize the month of June 2014 as Immigrant17
Heritage Month and does hereby commend the contributions of immigrants to the well-being18
