HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 176

A RESOLUTION
To recognize June 2014 as Immigrant Heritage Month in Louisiana.
WHEREAS, generations of immigrants from every corner of the globe have helped
cultivate our country's economy and have contributed to the exceptional character of the
United States; and
WHEREAS, immigrants have played an integral role in contributing to Louisiana's
rich and unique cultural history and have likewise fundamentally enriched the extraordinary
strength of our great state; and
WHEREAS, immigrants continue to grow businesses, innovate, create jobs, and
make significant positive impacts in Louisiana's economy in both private sector industries
spanning from science, technology, engineering, agriculture, and the arts, as well as wide-
ranging public sector roles, including esteemed service in all branches of our military; and
WHEREAS, recognizing these vast contributions, the role of immigrants in building
and enriching our state and nation has been far reaching and possesses untold economic and
cultural value.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize the month of June 2014 as Immigrant
Heritage Month and does hereby commend the contributions of immigrants to the well-being
of our great state and nation.
