HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 48

CONDOLENCES:  Expresses condolences upon the death of Stewart Sheng
A RESOLUTION1
To express the condolences of the Louisiana House of Representatives upon the death of2
Stewart Sheng of Metairie, Louisiana, and to recognize and record his many3
contributions to his community of Jefferson Parish and to Louisiana.4
WHEREAS, Stewart Sheng was born in Utica, New York, on May 20, 1966; after5
he met his wife, Jefferson Parish Councilwoman Cynthia Lee-Sheng, in Washington, D.C.,6
the couple moved to Louisiana in 1999, out of a desire to be closer to extended family and7
to raise a family of their own; and8
WHEREAS, Stewart Sheng was an educated engineer who desired to work more9
directly with people; he was employed for ten years at Isidore Newman School in New10
Orleans and worked for the past several years at the Hartwig Moss Insurance Agency as an11
insurance agent; and12
WHEREAS, Stewart Sheng's passion to work directly with people was evident in his13
establishment of the Bayou Boys' Volleyball Club in 2010, which is a program to coach14
young boys between the ages of eight and fifteen in volleyball skills; and15
WHEREAS, Mr. Sheng will continue to be remembered as an effusive, warm person16
who would light up any room because of his ability to bring laughter to everyone; and17
WHEREAS, Stewart Sheng was an outgoing man who enjoyed fishing trips with his18
father-in-law, the late Sheriff Harry Lee of Jefferson Parish; and19 HLS 14RS-2173	ORIGINAL

WHEREAS, Stewart Sheng's passion for his children, family, and baking delicious1
Crescent City Bread Pudding will forever be remembered because he was a man who2
influenced others by his dynamic spirit; and3
WHEREAS, the members of the Louisiana House of Representatives wish to4
recognize Mr. Sheng for his numerous contributions to Jefferson Parish, and especially wish5
to convey their deepest sympathy to his family: his wife of over fifteen years, Cynthia Lee-6
Sheng; his loving children, Gavin and Miranda Sheng; his siblings, Tai Sheng and Hilton7
Sheng; his nieces and nephews, Ryan, Ashley, Hunter, Sarah, Caroline, and Harrison Sheng;8
and his mother-in-law, Lai B. Lee.9
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the10
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express its sincere and heartfelt condolences to the11
family of Stewart Sheng.12
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted13
to the family of Stewart Sheng.14
