HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 51
BY REPRESENTATIVE BURFORD
A RESOLUTION
To commend Isaac McFarland of Keithville, Louisiana, upon his recognition as one of the
top youth volunteers in Louisiana.
WHEREAS, Isaac McFarland was recently named one of the top youth volunteers
in Louisiana for 2014 at the 19th Annual Prudential Spirit of Community Awards and it is
appropriate to commend him for this outstanding achievement; and
WHEREAS, Isaac is a junior at Caddo Parish Magnet High School and a member of
the Caddo Parish 4-H; he founded "Game Changers Let's Tackle Hunger", a campaign that
helped provide more than one thousand customized tackle boxes filled with healthy breakfast
food to children in need; and
WHEREAS, Isaac also organized a food drive that yielded two tons of items for his
local food bank, made and served jambalya at a soup kitchen with meat from his family's
farm, and created an ambassador program where young mentors teach others about the
benefits of healthy eating and exercise; and
WHEREAS, more than thirty thousand young people from across the country
participated in this year's program, and as a distinguished finalist, Isaac will receive an
engraved bronze medallion; and
WHEREAS, the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, created in 1995 by
Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School
Principals (NASSP), are designed to emphasize the importance of service to others and
encourage all young Americans to contribute to their communities; and
WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities,
and the overall vitality of American society, depend in great measure upon the dedication
of young people like Isaac; he represents the best of America's youth and is a role model to
his peers and his community. ENROLLEDHR NO. 51

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Isaac McFarland as a recipient of the
Prudential Spirit Community Award, does hereby recognize his outstanding record of
volunteer service, peer leadership, and community spirit, does hereby record for posterity
the immense pride and honor that Issac brings to his family and friends, his community, and
the state of Louisiana, and does hereby extend best wishes for his continued success,
prosperity, and happiness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Isaac McFarland.
