HLS 14RS-2079 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2014 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 53 BY REPRESENTATIVE JEFFERSON COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Claiborne Academy Lady Rebels basketball team upon winning the MAIS Class A state championship A RESOLUTION1 To commend the Claiborne Academy Lady Rebels basketball team upon winning the 20142 MAIS Class A state championship.3 WHEREAS, the Claiborne Academy Lady Rebels basketball team completed a4 sensational season, earning the title of 2014 MAIS Class A state champions after defeating5 Veritas School by a score of 47-43 to win the thrilling state championship game on February6 22, 2014; and7 WHEREAS, the Claiborne Academy Lady Rebels finished the stellar season with a8 33-8 record; and9 WHEREAS, the Lady Rebels were led by senior, Madison Butler; juniors, Reagan10 Beard, Hannah Colvin, Millicent Butler, and Cassidy Roper; sophomores, Alle Furlow,11 Ashlyn Heckel, McCall Heckel, Madelyn Haynes, Jess Atkins, Cathryn Ellis, Maddie Cain,12 and Jonecia Malone; and freshmen, Lauryn Cain, Hallie Miller, and Katie Ingle; and13 WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest level of excellence14 throughout the 2013-2014 season and playoffs, and each of these intrepid Lady Rebels15 deserves recognition for her vital contribution to the winning effort; and16 WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved17 without the guidance and skills of head coach Wade Heigle, as well as all of the other18 individuals who contributed to the success of the school's basketball program; and19 HLS 14RS-2079 ORIGINAL HR NO. 53 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, the team's outstanding 2013-2014 season upholds the glorious tradition1 of the Lady Rebels, and all Claiborne Academy alumni and fans recognize the immense2 pride and distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community, and state.3 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby4 commend the Claiborne Academy Lady Rebels basketball team upon winning the 20145 MAIS Class A state championship and does hereby extend best wishes to the players,6 coaches, and everyone involved with this fine basketball program as they celebrate their7 exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted9 to Wade Heigle, head coach of the Claiborne Academy Lady Rebels basketball team.10 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
