HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 58
BY REPRESENTATIVE TIM BURNS
COMMENDATIONS:  Commends Dr. Michael Sprague, president of Grace Adventures
and Capitol Commission chaplain
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Dr. Michael Sprague, president of Grace Adventures and chaplain to the2
Capitol Commission.3
WHEREAS, Dr. Michael Sprague holds a business degree from the University of4
Maryland, a master of divinity degree from Capital Bible Seminary in Lanham, Maryland,5
and a doctor of ministry degree from Dallas Theological Seminary; and6
WHEREAS, for fifteen years, Dr. Sprague ministered at Forcey Memorial Church7
in Silver Spring, Maryland, and for eleven years was the senior pastor of Trinity Church in8
Covington, Louisiana; and9
WHEREAS, Dr. Sprague was an integral partner in the launch of Touch Global10
Crisis Response Ministry for the Evangelical Free Churches of America, the mission of11
which is to multiply churches and to minister compassionately in the aftermath of natural12
disasters around the world; and13
WHEREAS, the counsel of St. Paul in 1 Corinthians 1:27, "God chose the foolish14
things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the15
strong", shapes the shepherd's heart and working hands of Dr. Sprague, who believes God16
does His best work in the midst of crisis; and17
WHEREAS, Dr. Sprague formed Grace Adventures in 2011, a scripture-based, Jesus-18
centered, grace-motivated, kingdom-building industry with the mission of helping business,19
political, and spiritual leaders to think through life's "Big Questions" and to win, not only20 HLS 14RS-2566	ORIGINAL

in politics or their careers, but to thrive spiritually, relationally, physically, and emotionally;1
and2
WHEREAS, for the past three years, Dr. Sprague and his wonderful wife and partner3
Donna Sprague, have engaged in relational outreach and discipleship; Dr. Sprague is the4
author of DISASTER: Betting the Farm on God in Life's Storms and Stories from5
Katrinaland, that latter of which chronicles reports of God's miraculous provision in the6
midst of calamity; and7
WHEREAS, Dr. Sprague accepted the post of Capitol Commission chaplain to the8
state capitol, where he conducts a weekly prayer service for legislators and ably performs9
his ministry as a vehicle of God in transforming the hearts and minds of elected officials10
with the Good News of Jesus Christ; and11
WHEREAS, on Friday, April 7, 2014, Dr. Sprague and Grace Adventures will12
celebrate three years of fruitful labor in God's vineyard at the ROC on the First Baptist13
Church Campus in Covington, and it is appropriate to commend Dr. Michael Sprague for his14
positive contributions to legislators at the state capitol and to the citizens of the state of15
Louisiana.16
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the17
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Dr. Michael Sprague upon the third18
anniversary of the founding of Grace Adventures and does hereby gratefully acknowledge19
the spiritual support he provides to legislators through his ministry as chaplain of the Capitol20
Commission.21
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted22
to Dr. Michael Sprague and Grace Adventures.23
