HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 58
BY REPRESENTATIVES TIM BURNS AND SCHRODER
A RESOLUTION
To commend Dr. Michael Sprague, president of Grace Adventures and chaplain to the
Capitol Commission.
WHEREAS, Dr. Michael Sprague holds a business degree from the University of
Maryland, a master of divinity degree from Capital Bible Seminary in Lanham, Maryland,
and a doctor of ministry degree from Dallas Theological Seminary; and
WHEREAS, for fifteen years, Dr. Sprague ministered at Forcey Memorial Church
in Silver Spring, Maryland, and for eleven years was the senior pastor of Trinity Church in
Covington, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Sprague was an integral partner in the launch of Touch Global
Crisis Response Ministry for the Evangelical Free Churches of America, the mission of
which is to multiply churches and to minister compassionately in the aftermath of natural
disasters around the world; and
WHEREAS, the counsel of St. Paul in 1 Corinthians 1:27, "God chose the foolish
things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the
strong", shapes the shepherd's heart and working hands of Dr. Sprague, who believes God
does His best work in the midst of crisis; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Sprague formed Grace Adventures in 2011, a scripture-based, Jesus-
centered, grace-motivated, kingdom-building industry with the mission of helping business,
political, and spiritual leaders to think through life's "Big Questions" and to win, not only
in politics or their careers, but to thrive spiritually, relationally, physically, and emotionally;
and
WHEREAS, for the past three years, Dr. Sprague and his wonderful wife and partner
Donna Sprague, have engaged in relational outreach and discipleship; Dr. Sprague is the
author of DISASTER: Betting the Farm on God in Life's Storms and Stories from
Katrinaland, that latter of which chronicles reports of God's miraculous provision in the

WHEREAS, Dr. Sprague accepted the post of Capitol Commission chaplain to the
state capitol, where he conducts a weekly prayer service for legislators and ably performs
his ministry as a vehicle of God in transforming the hearts and minds of elected officials
with the Good News of Jesus Christ; and
WHEREAS, on Friday, April 4, 2014, Dr. Sprague and Grace Adventures will
celebrate three years of fruitful labor in God's vineyard at the ROC on the First Baptist
Church Campus in Covington, and it is appropriate to commend Dr. Michael Sprague for his
positive contributions to legislators at the state capitol and to the citizens of the state of
Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Dr. Michael Sprague upon the third
anniversary of the founding of Grace Adventures and does hereby gratefully acknowledge
the spiritual support he provides to legislators through his ministry as chaplain of the Capitol
Commission.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Dr. Michael Sprague and Grace Adventures.
