HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 72
BY REPRESENTATIVE PATRICK WILLIAMS
A RESOLUTION
To commend the Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks of the American Basketball Association on their
undefeated season and 2014 championship playoff berth.
WHEREAS, the American Basketball Association is the largest professional sports league
in the United States, with more than one hundred teams, more than seventy-five percent of which are
owned by African-Americans, Hispanics, Asians, and women; and
WHEREAS, in the four seasons of its existence in the American Basketball Association, the
Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks' team record is 120-7; and
WHEREAS, the Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks sport a 2013-2014 season record of no losses:
at 31-0, the Mavericks are only the third undefeated club in American Basketball Association regular
season history; and
WHEREAS, the Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks have won fifty-seven consecutive games and
have sixty-two straight home wins; and
WHEREAS, Hirsch Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport is the site of the 2014 American
Basketball Association championship and the hosting Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks will take to the
court on Saturday, April 12, to defend their undefeated season.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of
Louisiana does hereby commend the Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks professional basketball team
upon its amazing undefeated 2013-2014 regular season; does hereby applaud the team upon earning
a place in the American Basketball Association championship playoffs; and does hereby express best
hopes and wishes for continuing success for Mavericks owners, players, and coaches for many years
to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks head coach and president, Steve Tucker.
