COMMENDATIONS: Commends Lauren Haigler, Airline High School senior in Bossier
City, upon being named a finalist for 2014 Louisiana High School Student of the
Year
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Lauren Haigler, a senior at Airline High School in Bossier City, upon being2
named a finalist for the 2014 Louisiana High School Student of the Year award.3
WHEREAS, the future of Louisiana is brightened by students who excel in the4
classroom and serve as role models for others; and5
WHEREAS, Bossier City's Lauren Catherine Haigler is one such student, having6
earned an American College Test (ACT) composite score of 31, a Taylor Opportunity7
Program for Students (TOPS) grade point average of 4.0, and a 1.38 ranking in her class of8
three hundred eighty-one students at Airline High School; and9
WHEREAS, Ms. Haigler is a member of the National Beta Club and the National10
Honor Society, and she is a Freshman Mentor Program member, having been chosen by11
Airline High School faculty to shepherd incoming freshmen; and12
WHEREAS, while excelling academically in high school, Ms. Haigler maintains an13
active extracurricular life by being a ballet instructor at the Theatre School of Dance and a14
preschool leader at The Simple Church; she has volunteered during school spring breaks to15
serve underprivileged children, clean abandoned apartment buildings, plant trees, and16
organize clothing donations in the cities of Arlington and New Orleans; and17
WHEREAS, Ms. Haigler is one of six regional finalists for Louisiana High School18
Student of the Year who were selected based on academic achievement, leadership skills,19

WHEREAS, the student of the year winners in the categories of high school, eighth1
grade, and fifth grade will be honored at the Louisiana State Museum in Baton Rouge in an2
annual ceremony conducted by the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education on3
April 16, 2014, and it is fitting to commend Lauren Catherine Haigler upon being named a4
finalist for the 2014 Louisiana High School Student of the Year award.5
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the6
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Lauren Haigler upon being named a finalist7
for the 2014 Louisiana High School Student of the Year award; does hereby congratulate8
Ms. Haigler for her exceptional academic achievements and community service; and does9
hereby extend best wishes for a productive future in whatever career Ms. Haigler pursues.10
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted11
to Lauren Catherine Haigler, her parents, Justin and Angela Haigler, Airline High School,12
and the Bossier Parish School Board.13
