HLS 14RS-3570 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2014 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 86 BY REPRESENTATIVE BURRELL COMMENDATIONS: Recognizes the Turquoise Council of Americans and Eurasians on the occasion of the Turkic-Louisianian Legislative reception A RESOLUTION1 To recognize the Turquoise Council of Americans and Eurasians on the occasion of the2 Turkic-Louisianian Legislative reception.3 WHEREAS, the Turquoise Council of Americans and Eurasians is an independent4 umbrella organization dedicated to promoting interaction and goodwill between people of5 Turkic and Eurasian heritage and other people of the United States; and6 WHEREAS, the council's mission is to promote friendship, understanding, and7 cooperation between the United States and the Turkic world, to foster and advance the8 interests of the Turkic American community, to engage and cultivate a new generation of9 young Turkic American leaders, to educate Americans about the Turkic world, and to10 encourage Turkic Americans to voice opinions on critical issues, serve as a think-tank of11 expertise on the Turkic world and Americans of Turkic descent, and identify and recognize12 the achievements of Turkic Americans in academia, the arts, business, education,13 government, public service, and science; and14 WHEREAS, in carrying out its mission, the council is committed to building up15 partnerships and working with all concurring organizations based on shared values and goals16 on the local, state, and national levels in the sponsorship and organization of educational17 programs on Turkic American issues, Turkic heritage, and the Turkic world; and18 WHEREAS, valuable members of the global community, the Republic of Turkey,19 and other Turkic nations bestow vital cultural, social, and economic contributions upon our20 world; and21 HLS 14RS-3570 ORIGINAL HR NO. 86 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, Turkey has the sixteenth largest economy in the world and has enjoyed1 a strong, vibrant, and mutually beneficial economic relationship with the United States; and2 WHEREAS, the council participates in a variety of outreach programs and events3 including the annual Congressional Friendship Dinner in Washington, DC, sister city pacts4 between American and Turkish cities, and town hall meetings; and5 WHEREAS, the Turkic-Louisianian Legislative reception offers guests several6 opportunities to experience elements of Turkish culture including Turkish music and cuisine7 as well as a water marbling demonstration.8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the9 Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize the Turquoise Council of Americans and10 Eurasians on its exemplary efforts to promote inter-cultural understanding and goodwill and11 extends best wishes for a successful and memorable Turkic-Louisianian Legislative12 reception.13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted14 to the Turquoise Council of Americans and Eurasians.15 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
