HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 86
BY REPRESENTATIVE BURRELL
A RESOLUTION
To recognize the Turquoise Council of Americans and Eurasians on the occasion of the
Turkic-Louisianian Legislative reception.
WHEREAS, the Turquoise Council of Americans and Eurasians is an independent
umbrella organization dedicated to promoting interaction and goodwill between people of
Turkic and Eurasian heritage and other people of the United States; and
WHEREAS, the council's mission is to promote friendship, understanding, and
cooperation between the United States and the Turkic world, to foster and advance the
interests of the Turkic American community, to engage and cultivate a new generation of
young Turkic American leaders, to educate Americans about the Turkic world, and to
encourage Turkic Americans to voice opinions on critical issues, serve as a think-tank of
expertise on the Turkic world and Americans of Turkic descent, and identify and recognize
the achievements of Turkic Americans in academia, the arts, business, education,
government, public service, and science; and
WHEREAS, in carrying out its mission, the council is committed to building up
partnerships and working with all concurring organizations based on shared values and goals
on the local, state, and national levels in the sponsorship and organization of educational
programs on Turkic American issues, Turkic heritage, and the Turkic world; and
 WHEREAS, valuable members of the global community, the Republic of Turkey,
and other Turkic nations bestow vital cultural, social, and economic contributions upon our
world; and
WHEREAS, Turkey has the sixteenth largest economy in the world and has enjoyed
a strong, vibrant, and mutually beneficial economic relationship with the United States; and
WHEREAS, the council participates in a variety of outreach programs and events
including the annual Congressional Friendship Dinner in Washington, DC, sister city pacts
between American and Turkish cities, and town hall meetings; and ENROLLEDHR NO. 86

WHEREAS, the Turkic-Louisianian Legislative reception offers guests several
opportunities to experience elements of Turkish culture including Turkish music and cuisine
as well as a water marbling demonstration.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize the Turquoise Council of Americans and
Eurasians on its exemplary efforts to promote inter-cultural understanding and goodwill and
extends best wishes for a successful and memorable Turkic-Louisianian Legislative
reception.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the Turquoise Council of Americans and Eurasians.
