HLS 14RS-3732 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 3 Regular Session, 2014 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 92 BY REPRESENTATIVE PUGH COMMENDATIONS: Commends the members of the U.S. Army War College team participating in the Eisenhower Series College Program and welcomes them to La. in April of 2014 A RESOLUTION1 To commend the members of the United States Army War College team participating in the2 Eisenhower Series College Program and to welcome them to Louisiana in April of3 2014.4 WHEREAS, upon the memorable and historic occasion of their visit to the state of5 Louisiana, it is appropriate to commend and honor those from the United States Army War6 College participating in the Eisenhower Series College Program; and7 WHEREAS, the United States Army War College, located in Carlisle Barracks,8 Pennsylvania, represents the highest level of education offered by the military services and9 is designed to equip carefully selected senior officers and civilians with the competencies10 required of strategic leaders of the United States Armed Forces; and11 WHEREAS, these select students, including senior officers from all branches of the12 armed forces, senior civilian representatives from a variety of United States government13 agencies, and senior military officers from many countries, are chosen to participate in this14 graduate-level course of study; and 15 WHEREAS, United States Army War College students examine national security16 issues and strategy development, regional affairs, current and future challenges for national17 defense, and the responsibilities of senior-level command, and students who successfully18 complete all the requirements established by the Army War College for granting a degree19 are awarded the Master of Strategic Studies degree; and20 HLS 14RS-3732 ORIGINAL HR NO. 92 Page 2 of 3 WHEREAS, annually, several students at the United States Army War College1 participate in the Eisenhower Series College Program and travel outside Carlisle Barracks2 to engage in discussions with other students, academics, and the public about national3 security issues and the employment of military assets; and4 WHEREAS, in April of 2014, Eisenhower Series College Program participants are5 sharing their unique knowledge with the citizens of Louisiana and visiting various education6 institutions, including Southeastern Louisiana University and the Louisiana State University7 Paul M. Hebert Law Center; and8 WHEREAS, topics to be discussed include Cyber Security - Whose Responsibility9 Is It?, Targeting Terrorists after Afghanistan, U.S. Asia-Pacific Strategy, Energy Security:10 What is DoD Pursuing and Why?, and Sexual Assault and the Military; and 11 WHEREAS, the actions and commitment of the individuals participating in the12 Eisenhower Series College Program uphold the highest traditions of the United States Armed13 Forces, and they bring tremendous pride to their families, their fellow citizens, and the14 United States of America; and15 WHEREAS, these individuals merit a special measure of commendation as they are16 welcomed with the utmost admiration and respect to the state of Louisiana.17 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the18 Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the members of the United States Army War19 College team who are participating in the Eisenhower Series College Program for their20 outstanding accomplishments, namely Lieutenant Colonel Robert A. Borcherding,21 Lieutenant Colonel Paul Tim Brooks, Lieutenant Colonel Stephen K. Van Riper,22 Commander Anthony Conley, Colonel Jacqueline Denise Brown, and Colonel Matthew C.23 Molineux, does hereby recognize and record for posterity their vital contributions and24 tireless dedication to military excellence, does hereby express enduring appreciation for the25 tremendous honor they bring to the citizens of Louisiana with their visit in April of 2014,26 does hereby sincerely welcome them to Louisiana, and does hereby extend to them best27 wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that suitable copies of this Resolution be transmitted29 to Lieutenant Colonel Robert A.
