Allain (SB 104)
Present law provides that no state-owned building or structure, except highways, bridges, and
railroads, may be razed, demolished, or otherwise disposed of unless (1) the division of
administration notifies all of the legislators representing the district in which the state-owned
building is located that demolition of the building or structure has been requested, and (2) the
office of facility planning and control approves the demolition. Only 30 days after legislative
notification may the director of the office of facility planning and control may authorize the
demolition.
Proposed law retains present law and adds exception for demolition of integrated coastal
protection projects as defined by R.S. 49:214.2(11) and (14).
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
