FUNDS/FUNDING. Provides for fees and procedures for the receipt or issuance of certain
documents by electronic means. (8/1/14)
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact the introductory paragraph of R.S. 13:841(A) and (2)(c) and (d),2
relative to miscellaneous fees in civil matters; to provide for setting limits on fees3
and establishing procedures for the receipt or issuance of certain documents by4
electronic means; and to provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. The introductory paragraph of R.S. 13:841(A) and (2)(c) and (d) are7
hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:8
§841. Enumeration of fees in civil matters; miscellaneous9
A. The clerks of the several district courts may be entitled to demand and10
receive fees of office, which fees may be less than, but shall not exceed, the11
following amounts: set forth in this Section.  Any clerk of court that establishes12
procedures for the filing, receipt, or issuance of any of the following documents13
by electronic means shall establish fees for the filing, receipt, or issuance of14
electronic documents that shall not exceed the fee that would apply if the15
document was received, filed, or issued in paper.16

(c) Paper–exhibits, attachments, transcripts, and depositions–per page, two3
dollars Documents up to eight and one-half inches by fourteen inches, including4
but not limited to exhibits, attachments, suit records, transcripts, and5
depositions, two dollars per page.6
(d) All other exhibits, five dollars All paper documents larger than eight7
and one-half inches by fourteen inches and other exhibits, five dollars.8

Present law provides for the enumeration of miscellaneous fees by clerks of court in civil
matters.
Proposed law retains present law and further provides that any clerk of court that establishes
procedures for the filing, receipt, or issuance of any of a list of certain documents involved
in the filing of civil matters by electronic means shall establish fees for the filing, receipt,
or issuance of electronic documents that shall not exceed the fee that would apply if the
document was received, filed, or issued in paper.
Proposed law further provides that documents up to eight and one-half inches by fourteen
inches, including but not limited to exhibits, attachments, suit records, transcripts, and
depositions, shall be two dollars per page.
Proposed law also provides that all paper documents larger than eight and one-half inches
by fourteen inches and other exhibits, shall be five dollars.
Effective August 1, 2014.
