Martiny (SB 139) Act No. 111
Prior law, relative to the distribution and sale of motor vehicles, provided definitions.
New law retains prior law and adds the definition of "watercraft" to mean any contrivance
used or designated for navigation on water, including but not limited to a personal watercraft
as defined by law.
Prior law provided for the establishment of a new marine dealership. New law exempts from
prior law marine products consisting of trolling motors, or boat trailers or watercraft trailers.
Prior law provided that it is a violation of law for a manufacturer, a distributor, a wholesaler,
distributor branch, or factory branch of marine products or any officer, agent, or other
representative thereof to fail to designate and provide to the commission in writing the
community or territory assigned to a licensee.
New law exempts from existing law marine products consisting of trolling motors, or boat
trailers or watercraft trailers.
Effective August 1, 2014.
