Dorsey-Colomb (SB 147) Act No. 112 Prior law provided relative to capital cases and the execution of death sentences. Prior law provided that the secretary of the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections (DPSC), at least 10 days prior to an execution, is to give either written notice, or verbal notice followed by written notice, of the date and time of an offender's execution to the victim's parents or guardian, spouse, and any adult children who have indicated to the secretary that they desire such notice, and in the notice give the named parties the option of attending the execution. New law retains prior law and adds that the victim's family members are to indicate that they desire notice of the date and time of the execution by registering with the Crime Victims Services Bureau of DPSC. Effective August 1, 2014. (Amends R.S. 15:570(E)(1))
