(8/1/14) AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 15:146(A)(5), relative to the Louisiana Public Defender Board; to provide2 requirements for the membership of the board; to provide for transition; and to3 provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 15:146(A)(5) is hereby enacted to read as follows:6 ยง146. Louisiana Public Defender Board7 A.8 * * *9 (5) At least two members of the board shall be appointed from each10 congressional district as those districts are provided for in R.S. 18:1276.1.11 * * *12 Section 2. DIGEST Walsworth (SB 168) Present law creates the Louisiana Public Defender Board. The board has 15 members, plus two ex officio, nonvoting members. Proposed law requires that at least two members of the board shall be appointed from each of the six congressional districts. Provides that appointments shall be made to bring the board into compliance with proposed law as vacancies occur, whether by expiration of current terms, resignation, or other events or occurrences.
