(gov sig) AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 17:2928(B), relative to the school and district accountability2 system; to require that International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement, and dual3 enrollment courses be given equal status and recognition for purposes of determining4 school performance scores and letter grades; and to provide for related matters.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6 Section 1. R.S. 17:2928(B) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:7 ยง2928. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not3 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature4 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. DIGEST Morrish (SB 191) Present law requires the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education to revise the school and student accountability system to recognize schools and school districts that improve their high school graduation rates and for the number of students who successfully complete programs that lead to industry-based certifications and International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement, and dual enrollment courses. Proposed law retains present law and additionally provides that International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement, and dual enrollment courses shall be given equal status and recognition by the board for purposes of determining school performance scores and letter grades.
