The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Alan Miller. DIGEST Mills (SB 195) Proposed law requires that, notwithstanding any provision of law or any rule, regulation, or policy to the contrary, the governing authority of each public elementary and secondary school adopt a policy authorizing a school nurse to carry and administer inhalers, as defined in present law, to a student who the school nurse, in good faith, professionally believes is having a symptom of wheezing, whether or not such student has a prescription for an inhaler. The school nurse may administer the inhaler to respond to a student's symptom of wheezing, under standing protocol from a physician licensed to practice medicine in the state. Effective August 1, 2014. (Adds R.S. 17:436.1(L))
