Allain (SB 201)
Present law provides that bonds may be issued, taxes may be levied or increased, or indebtedness
assumed if approved by a vote of a majority in number of the qualified electors voting on the
proposition at an election as is provided in Chapter 6-A of Title 18.
Proposed law provides, in order for the proposition to be considered approved, the total number
of persons voting in such an election must constitute not less than 20% of the number of voters
on the official or active list of voters on all the precinct registers and any supplements thereto for
all the precincts in which the election is held.
Effective if and when the proposed amendment of Article VI, Section 30(C) of the Constitution
of Louisiana contained in the Act which originated as SB____ of the 2014 RS is adopted at the
statewide election to be held on Nov. 4, 2014, and becomes effective.
