CLERKS OF COURT. Provides relative to notice of decisions in criminal appeals. (8/1/14)
AN ACT1
To enact Code of Criminal Procedure Article 921.1, relative to procedures in appellate2
courts; to provide for transmittal of a decision in an appellate court to the court from3
which the appeal was taken and to the Department of Public Safety and Corrections;4
and to provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. Code of Criminal Procedure Article 921.1 is hereby enacted to read as7
follows: 8
Art. 921.1.  Notice of decision in criminal appeals9
A. In addition to the requirements regarding transmission of notice of10
judgment and copies of decisions under the Uniform Rules of Louisiana Courts11
of Appeal, when a decision in an appellate court in a criminal appeal is12
rendered, the clerk of court shall transmit a notice or copy of the decision to the13
clerk of court from which the appeal was taken and to the Department of Public14
Safety and Corrections.15
B. When a decision of the supreme court is rendered in a criminal16
appeal, the clerk of court shall transmit a notice or copy of the decision to the17 SB NO. 240

clerk of court from which the appeal was taken and to the Department of Public1

Proposed law provides that, in addition to the requirements regarding transmission of notice
of judgment and copies of decisions under the Uniform Rules of La. Courts of Appeal, when
a decision in an appellate court in a criminal appeal is rendered, the clerk of court is to
transmit a notice or copy of the decision to the clerk of court from which the appeal was
taken and to the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections.
Proposed law provides that when a decision of the supreme court is rendered in a criminal
appeal, the clerk of court is to transmit a notice or copy of the decision to the clerk of court
from which the appeal was taken and to the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections.
Effective August 1, 2014.
