Requires DOE to report annually specified information regarding the Student Scholarships for Educational Excellence Program to state legislators. (gov sig) AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 17:4024, relative to the Student Scholarships for Educational2 Excellence Program; to require the Department of Education to report annually3 certain information regarding the program to state legislators; and to provide for4 related matters.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6 Section 1. R.S. 17:4024 is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 7 ยง4024. Reports8 A. The department annually shall report to the Senate Committee on9 Education, the House Committee on Education, and the Joint Legislative Committee10 on the Budget regarding the implementation of the program, including the number11 of eligible students receiving scholarships, a list of participating schools and the12 number of scholarship recipients each such school enrolled, and aggregate test result13 data for the scholarship recipients enrolled in each participating school.14 B. The department annually shall report to each state senator and state15 representative regarding the schools in his respective district participating in16 the program. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not6 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature7 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If8 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become9 effective on the day following such approval.10 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Jeanne C. DIGEST Present law requires the Department of Education (DOE) to report annually to the Senate Committee on Education, the House Committee on Education, and the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget regarding the implementation of the program, including the number of eligible students receiving scholarships, a list of participating schools and the number of scholarship recipients each such school enrolled, and aggregate test result data for the scholarship recipients enrolled in each participating school. Proposed law retains present law and additionally requires DOE to report annually to each state senator and state representative regarding the schools in his respective district participating in the program. Further provides that such report shall include a list of all participating schools located in the legislator's district, the total number of students receiving scholarships enrolled in each participating school, aggregate test result data for the scholarship recipients enrolled in each participating school, and historical scholarship recipient enrollment and aggregate test result data for every year the school has participated in the program.
