EDUCATION DEPARTMENT.  Requires DOE to report annually specified information
regarding the Student Scholarships for Educational Excellence Program to state legislators.

AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 17:4024, relative to the Student Scholarships for Educational2
Excellence Program; to provide relative to program reporting requirements; to3
require the Department of Education to report annually certain information regarding4
the program to state legislators and certain legislative committees; and to provide for5
related matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1.  R.S. 17:4024 is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 8
ยง4024.  Reports9
A. The department annually shall report to the Senate Committee on10
Education, the House Committee on Education, and the Joint Legislative Committee11
on the Budget, and each individual legislator regarding the implementation of the12
program, including the number of eligible students receiving scholarships, a list of13
participating schools and the number of scholarship recipients each such school14
enrolled, and aggregate test result data for the scholarship recipients enrolled in each15
participating school. The report, at a minimum, shall include the following16

(1)  The total number of students receiving scholarships.1
(2)  A list of all schools participating in the program.2
(3) A list of all schools participating in the program grouped by3
legislative district.4
(4) The total student enrollment of each participating school, the5
number of scholarship recipients enrolled in each school, and the percentage of6
the total enrollment of each school represented by scholarship recipients.7
(5) Aggregate test result data for the scholarship recipients enrolled in8
each participating school.9
B. Not later than April thirtieth of each year, the department shall send10
a printed copy of the report required by this Section to each legislative11
committee as provided in Subsection A of this Section and to each member of12
the legislature.13
Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not14
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature15
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If16
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become17
effective on the day following such approval.18

Present law requires the Department of Education (DOE) to report annually to the Senate
Committee on Education, the House Committee on Education, and the Joint Legislative
Committee on the Budget regarding the implementation of the Student Scholarships for
Educational Excellence Program, including the number of eligible students receiving
scholarships, a list of participating schools and the number of scholarship recipients each
such school enrolled, and aggregate test result data for the scholarship recipients enrolled
in each participating school.
Proposed law adds each individual legislator to the list of entities that DOE must report to
annually.
Proposed law retains present law and additionally requires that the report include a list of all
participating schools grouped by legislative district and the percentage of the total
