Clement, Jr. DIGEST White (SB 313) Present law defines and provides penalties for the crime of home invasion. Present law provides that whoever commits the crime of home invasion armed with a dangerous weapon is to be fined up to $7,000 and imprisoned at hard labor for up to 30 years. Proposed law retains present law and adds that whoever commits the crime of home invasion armed with a dangerous weapon is to be imprisoned for a minimum of five years. Proposed law otherwise retains present law. Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
