White (SB 313) Act No. 300 Prior law defined and provided penalties for the crime of home invasion. Prior law provided that whoever commits the crime of home invasion armed with a dangerous weapon is to be fined up to $7,000 and imprisoned at hard labor for up to 30 years. New law retains prior law and adds that whoever commits the crime of home invasion armed with a dangerous weapon is to be imprisoned for a minimum of five years. New law otherwise retains prior law. Effective upon signature of the governor (May 28, 2014). (Amends R.S. 14:62.8(B)(2))
