(8/1/14) AN ACT1 To amend and reenact Code of Civil Procedure Article 4843(C) and (D), relative to courts2 and jurisdiction; to provide for the civil jurisdiction of certain city courts; to provide3 relative to the City Court of Lafayette; to provide for an increase in the civil4 jurisdictional amount in dispute for the City Court of Lafayette; and to provide for5 related matters.6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7 Section 1. Code of Civil Procedure Article 4843(C) and (D) are hereby amended and8 reenacted to read as follows:9 Art. 4843. City court jurisdiction; amount in dispute; injunctive actions by state or10 political subdivision11 * * *12 C. DIGEST Present law provides that, except as otherwise specifically provided by law, civil jurisdiction for the City Court of Lafayette is concurrent with the district court in cases where the amount in dispute, or the value of the property involved, does not exceed $15,000. Proposed law provides that civil jurisdiction for the City Court of Lafayette is concurrent with the district court in cases where the amount in dispute, or the value of the property involved, does not exceed $20,000.
