Regular Session, 2014 SENATE BILL NO. 394 BY SENATOR MORRELL ETHICS. Prohibits persons having outstanding fines to Ethic Board from serving on any boards and commissions. (8/1/14) AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 42:2.1(C) and (D), relative to boards and commissions; to prohibit certain2 individuals from serving on boards and commissions; to provide for definitions; and3 to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 42:2.1(C) and (D) are hereby enacted to read as follows: 6 ยง2.1. Boards, commissions, councils, authorities, entities; composition7 * * *8 C. No person owing any outstanding fines, fees, or penalties pursuant to9 the Code of Governmental Ethics shall be appointed to any board or10 commission of the state or any political subdivision.11 D. DIGEST Morrell (SB 394) Proposed law prohibits the appointment of any person with an outstanding fine to the Board of Ethics to state or political subdivision boards or commissions. Proposed law defines "outstanding fines, fees, or penalties pursuant to the Code of Governmental Ethics" as a fine, fee, or penalty equal to an amount of $250 or more for which all appeals have been exhausted.
