Walsworth (SB 405)
Present law requires the Department of Education (DOE) to begin implementation of a Louisiana
Educational Assessment Program (LEAP) with the approval of BESE.
Proposed law retains present law and further requires BESE to ensure that any new assessments
used in LEAP are aligned with approved state content standards and have been reviewed by
education stakeholders in Louisiana, including but not limited to educators, principals, and
superintendents.
Effective August 1, 2014.
