TRANSPORTATION/DEV DEPT. Provides relative to the composition of Department of
Transportation and Development. (8/1/14)
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 48:11, relative to the Department of Transportation and2
Development; to provide for the composition of the department; to provide for3
districts; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 48:11 is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 6
ยง11. Department of Transportation and Development; creation; composition7
A. The Department of Transportation and Development is created and is8
composed of the secretary, undersecretary, deputy secretary and assistant secretaries9
and such other offices and officers and divisions as may be established under the10
provisions of R.S. 36:1 through R.S. 36:960 Title 36 of the Louisiana Revised11
Statutes of 1950.12
B.  The secretary of the department may establish districts throughout13
the state to plan, design, build, operate, and maintain the state transportation14
system within the parishes included in each district. 15

Present law creates DOTD composed of the secretary, undersecretary, deputy secretary and
assistant secretaries and such other offices and officers and divisions as may be established
under present law.
Proposed law makes technical revision.  Otherwise retains present law.
Proposed law authorizes the secretary to establish districts throughout the state to plan,
design, build, operate, and maintain the state transportation system within the parishes
included in each district. 
Effective on August 1, 2014.
