SENATE BILL NO. 462

CONSERVATION.  Prohibits the drilling for oil and gas within the three hundred thirty-foot
unit boundary.  (8/1/14)
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 30:4(N), relative to the jurisdiction, duties, and powers of the assistant2
secretary of the Department of Natural Resources; to provide for the issuance of3
certain drilling permits; to prohibit drilling wells within three hundred thirty feet of4
the property boundary of a drilling unit or lease; to provide terms, conditions, and5
requirements; and to provide for related matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1.  R.S. 30:4(N) is hereby enacted to read as follows:8

N. The commissioner shall not authorize or issue any permit that allows11
the drilling of any well located closer than three hundred thirty feet from the12

Proposed law prohibits the commissioner of conservation from authorizing or issuing any
permit that allows the drilling of any well located closer than 330 feet of the property
boundary of a drilling unit or lease.
Effective August 1, 2014.
