Walsworth	SB No. 462
Present law sets a 50 fish possession limit for crappie on state waters and also provides a 100
fish possession limit for crappie on Lake D'Arbonne.
Proposed law changes the limit from 100 to 50 on Lake D'Arbonne.
Present law authorizes the Wildlife and Fisheries Commission to amend daily take and
possession limits, and set seasons. However, present law specifically prohibits the
commission from making changes to the daily take and possession limits for crappie taken
on Lake D'Arbonne and Toledo Bend.
Proposed law authorizes the Commission to make changes to daily take and possession
limits on Lake D'Arbonne when recommended by the department but requires the Dept. of
Wildlife and Fisheries to conduct sampling, collect and analyze data on the crappie resources
on Lake D'Arbonne to determine if there is a negative impact on the resource.
Present administrative rule provides for a 25 crappie daily limit on Lake D'Arbonne.
Proposed law repeals the administrative rule.
Effective August 1, 2014.
(Amends R.S. 56:325(B)(3); Repeals LAC 76:VII.197(B))
