Proposed law provides any board issued license or permit to a physician shall be automatically
suspended upon a physician's conviction or entry of a plea of guilty or nolo contendere to a
felony that constitutes a crime of violence as defined in present law, arises out of the practice of
medicine, or arises out of the billing for health care services.
Proposed law provides the automatic suspension shall remain in effect from the date of
conviction or plea until the conclusion of the administrative proceedings and issuance of a final
decision, consent order or other order by the board pursuant to the Administrative Procedure Act.
Proposed law provides an individual whose license has been automatically suspended may
request an expedited hearing before the board.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
