Louisiana Senate Bill SB507 Comm Sub / Analysis

                    Martiny (SB 507)	Act No. 866
Prior law provided for terms of members of the La. State Board of Dentistry ("board").
New law provides that regardless of a member's dates of service, including past service, no
person shall serve more than a total of 10 years on the board, whether such service consists
of full or partial terms, or is consecutive or not.
New law provides that new law shall not prevent a board member serving on August 1, 2014,
from completing his term of service, but shall thereafter apply.
Prior law provided that the domicile of the board shall be the city of New Orleans.  New law
changes the domicile of the board to the parish of East Baton Rouge.
Prior law provided that judicial review of a decision of the board shall be in the civil district
court for the parish of Orleans.  New law changes the venue of judicial review of a decision
of the board to the 19th Judicial District in East Baton Rouge Parish.
New law provides for an effective date of Jan. 1, 2017, for provisions of domicile of the
board (R.S. 37:753(I) and the court for purposes of filing suits (R.S. 37:786(A)(1) and (C).
Remaining provisions are effective upon signature of the governor (June 23, 2014).
