(8/1/14) AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 33:447.13, relative to courts; to increase authorized court costs for municipal2 ordinance violations in the mayor's court of the town of Anacoco; and to provide for3 related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 33:447.13 is hereby enacted to read as follows:6 ยง447.13. Mayor's court; town of Anacoco; additional court costs7 In addition to the court costs authorized by R.S. 33:441, the mayor of the8 town of Anacoco, as the presiding officer of the mayor's court of the town of9 Anacoco, may impose additional court costs not to exceed twenty dollars for10 each offense, as defined by ordinance, on any defendant convicted of a violation11 of a municipal ordinance.12 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Cathy R. DIGEST Present law, applicable to mayor's court generally, authorizes the mayor, as presiding officer of the court, to impose court costs not to exceed $30 for each offense, as defined by ordinance, on any defendant convicted of a violation of a municipal ordinance. Proposed law retains present law and further provides that in addition to the court costs authorized by present law, the mayor, as the presiding officer of the court of the town of Anacoco, may impose additional court costs not to exceed $20 for each offense, as defined by ordinance, on any defendant convicted of a violation of a municipal ordinance.
