DIGEST
Present law, applicable to mayor's court generally, authorizes the mayor, as presiding officer of
the court, to impose court costs not to exceed $30 for each offense, as defined by ordinance, on
any defendant convicted of a violation of a municipal ordinance.
Proposed law retains present law and further provides that in addition to the court costs
authorized by present law, the mayor, as the presiding officer of the court of the town of
Anacoco, may impose additional court costs not to exceed $20 for each offense, as defined by
ordinance, on any defendant convicted of a violation of a municipal ordinance.
Effective August 1, 2014.
