AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 48:1456(D), relative to Capital Area Transit System; to provide2
for certain action relative to the board of commissioners; to provide for an effective3
date; and to provide for related matters.4
Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. R.S. 48:1456(D) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 7

D. Notwithstanding the expiration of their terms, members shall serve until10
their successors are appointed and qualified, unless removed for cause, which11
removal shall take immediate effect. The governing authority of the appointing12
parish shall appoint a temporary replacement to the board immediately upon13
removal or within fourteen days. The temporary appointee shall remain on the14
board until a successor is appointed and qualified. A temporary appointee is15
not eligible for reappointment for a term. Members All other appointed16
members are eligible for reappointment.17

Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not19
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature20
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If21

vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become1
effective on the day following such approval.2
