Perry (SB 596)
Present law requires a driver's license to bear the applicant's full legal name.
Present law (R.S. 32:410(A)(3)(a)(viii)) provides that an applicant's driver's license may bear his
social security number at his option.
Proposed law provides that a driver's license shall not bear the applicant's social security number.
Present law provides that the identifying information and documents of identification required to
obtain a special identification card are the same as those required to obtain a Louisiana driver's
license, as provided in R.S. 32:409.1.
Proposed law adds that identifying information and documents of identification includes any
alternative means to ensure that the applicant meets the requirements of certification developed
by OMV.
Effective August 1, 2014.
