CONTROL DANGER SUBSTANCE. Moves carisoprodol from Schedule IV to Schedule
II. (8/1/14)
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 40:964(Schedule II)(D) and to repeal R.S. 40:964(Schedule2
IV)(B)(4.1), relative to the Controlled Dangerous Substances Law; to provide for the3
composition of the schedules of the controlled substances; and to provide for related4
matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. R.S. 40:964(Schedule II)(D) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as7
follows: 8
§964. Composition of schedules9
Schedules I, II, III, IV, and V shall, unless and until added to pursuant to R.S.10
40:962, consist of the following drugs or other substances, by whatever official11
name, common or usual name, chemical name, or brand name designated:12

D. Depressants. Unless specifically excepted or unless listed in another16

quantity of the following substances having a depressant effect on the central1
nervous system, including its salts, isomers, or salts of isomers, whenever the2
existence of such salts, isomers, and salts of isomers is possible within the specific3
chemical designation:4

Section 2.  R.S. 40:964(Schedule IV)(B)(4.1) is hereby repealed.13
